Curtis Hughes Selected as Finalist for CIO of the Year Award

Midrex Technologies CIO, Curtis Hughes, has been selected as a Finalist for the CIO of the Year ORBIE® Award by CharlotteCIO. Curtis is one of four finalists within the Corporate category.
As the CIO of Midrex Technologies, Curtis is responsible for defining and executing the company’s global technology strategy across more than 20 countries worldwide. Since joining Midrex in 2017, Curtis has transformed the company’s roadmap for technology solutions and IT management. He has led game changing initiatives such as the cross-organizational implementation of Microsoft 365 and a new internal intranet, redefined IT security and data protection measures, and etched the use of collaborative tools into our culture. Curtis’ innovative spirit, tenacious drive, and exemplary leadership has created a vision for Midrex’s future where IT technology is key in sustaining our position as the world leader in direct reduction.
In addition to his role as CIO, Curtis is also a member of the Midrex Executive Leadership Team, where he works alongside company leaders to determine the overall strategic direction for Midrex. Curtis also serves as an advisor to the Innovation Team and the MiTeam Talent Development team. Curtis is an award-winning business leader, global speaker, entrepreneur, and volunteer. His impact within the technology industry reaches far and wide, and truly speaks to his character as a determined, thoughtful, and inspiring leader.
Finalists for the CIO of the Year ORBIE® Award were selected from hundreds of candidates across dozens of industries in Charlotte. Finalists were selected by a panel of judges who looked for CIOs that demonstrate leadership effectiveness, industry and community engagement, and business value created by technology innovation. Winners will be announced through a virtual event held on September 11, 2020 at 7:30AM.
